Good Thursday morning everyone. Today I have a funny story to share.
You may not have noticed but last week I was quite absent from the internet. I still checked my emails for anything important I might need to address immediately and played a few games of minesweeper. Other than that I spent my time outside of work sitting on the couch zoning out into tv land. I cared for nothing else. I tried to read a few blogs or scan through facebook - I even tried to write a blog post, but each time I stared at the screen and saw the happy people communicating, I just wanted to tell them to go #*%#@ themselves. I felt tired and bitter and angry and I did not understand why. I was trying to figure it out all week. Maybe I
was getting sick, maybe I had finally burnt myself out at work, maybe I was depressed, it could be the weather... none of these really seemed like the right answer. It was not until the end of the week when I finally started to feel better and not hate every person I came across that I finally figured it out. Folks, I have been drinking a minimum of two cups of coffee every morning without fail for the past ten years. At the end of the previous week I had run out of coffee beans and replaced my canister with decaf! I had no idea and I went through a horrible detox completely unaware of what I had done to myself. By the time I figured it out I was actually starting to feel a lot better than I had before so I decided not to start my coffee habit up again. It is still a much different feeling than what I am used to but I do feel better throughout the day and glad to not be dependent on caffeine to make me pleasant and motivated in the morning.
So, what is it you think you could not live without?
A tribute treasury to my beloved coffee.
And Thank You to Alyssa from Cloud9Jewels for including my anklet in an awesome fringe treasury.
And Thank you to FrancescasFancy for including my buttons in a red hot Valentine treasury.
These were pleasant surprises that came the day after I finally got back on-line and once again joined the happy people communicating.
I can't live without my yarn and hooks! It's becoming a real problem!
ReplyDeleteI have to stagger my caffeine intake, or I get headaches and moodiness! I have to do the same thing with alcohol. All good things in moderation, I guess!
Oh I definitely don't think I will be giving up beads any time...ever.
DeleteI was definitely moody last week. So glad to see you on blogger btw! Thanks for the comment - Love ya!
I Love coffee but usually drink decaf. I love coffee so much that I splurged on a cappucino machine. My daughter sent me the folowing video...it is hilarious but contains some x-rated language.

Thanks for the laugh. I had a very long day at work and that was perfect to come home to. :)
DeleteI have the coolest espresso contraption (one like this http://presso.com ) and love to make lattes. Since that's an occasional treat I won't give that up.
I have gone through the caffeine detox before and I agree it is not pleasant for the very reasons you stated. You are grumpy and don't really know why.
ReplyDeleteI would have never done it on purpose for sure but I'm not sorry it happened.
DeleteIt's pretty neat that you accidentally quit your habit:))
ReplyDeleteI like coffee but it's not my vice, I can go without no problem. I got a mean sweet tooth that is harder to control. I can be without coffee, alcohol, and I quit smoking cigarettes cold turkey. But the cupcake habit.... The 4 o'clock sweet monster... I have to fight it another day.
That is great that you just gave up smoking on will power! I love cupcakes but I guess a cupcake a day will not keep the doctor away. :)
DeleteI gave up on caffeine for about 6 months... and then eventually went back to it. I simply could never get enough sleep and without that jolt of wake-me-up in the morning... I was falling asleep at my desk. lol It was worth a try though. I do attempt to balance it out by drinking lots and lots of water for the rest of the day to stay hydrated and healthy!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
I nominated you for the Versatile blogger award here: http://megansbeadeddesigns.wordpress.com/2012/02/01/guess-who-has-two-thumbs-and-is-a-versatile-blogger-this-gal/
♥ Keep on being a fabulous blogger!
Admittedly I could not give up my ritual of sitting down with something hot to drink at the computer in the mornings so I have been drinking tea instead. A little less of a caffeine jolt - green when I have had a good nights rest and black when I have to cut sleep short to get to work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nomination - what a compliment!
